The citation from a Smithsonian calouge 1901 hits the point &amp; the link I am searching; namely that Putai is the origin of the SantaClaus-figure, (or Jule-Nissen (Yule-) we call him here in Norway.) Another intriguing detail  can be noticed when comparing some of the sitting positions of Putai and the &quot;kingly&quot;,realxed position of (some) Avalokiteshvara staues: one knee (the right) raised, and leaning on the other arm or sack.]]></description>
